Control. It can be difficult to remain intrinsically motivated to pursue goals if you do not feel that you have a real influence over the results. Look for ways that you can take an active role.

Don't be afraid of competition. There may be others out there who are trying to achieve the same goals as you, but this does not mean that you have to give up. This gives you something to compare your efforts to, and can even help inspire you to keep doing better.
